Charlotte Pipe and Foundry History
In 1901 W. Frank Dowd recognized the need for plumbing pipe in the newly industrialized, post-war South. To answer this need he built a small foundry in Charlotte, North Carolina to produce cast iron soil pipe and fittings. The original Charlotte Pipe and Foundry employed 25 men.
Since then, Charlotte Pipe has been a trusted manufacturer of plumbing systems. We are the nation's top maker of cast iron and plastic pipe and fittings, producing the industry's broadest range of standard and specialty DWV products.
